Automation and Control Design Engineer (All levels)
Are you an efficient design engineer who wants to be at the forefront of designing and developing automation controls systems and solutions (hardware and/or software). Do you have experience in one or more fields like: Robotics, Controls, PLC.
Our new and exciting client due to extreme growth requires several automation and controls engineer. The core functions of this role are; scoping, designing, validating and delivering control systems, automation solutions, and will also include support for systems already in the field.

You will have:
- Strong technical skills and documentation skills (specs, reports, test plans)
- Attention to detail and quality (following standards and best practices)
- The ability to work either as part of a team or autonomously (system understanding)
- Clear and consistent communication skills – with all stakeholders (design review, progress, risks and issues)
- A willingness to learn and share your knowledge
- Excellent time management skills (effort estimation, efficiency)
- Practical site experience with automation systems (commissioning, root cause analysis, problem solving)
The role will include:
- Development and preparation of functional descriptions and commissioning/test plans
- Control system design and PLC programming – including HMI – for standard & bespoke products
- Ensuring design and delivery complies with UK and Client standards and specifications
- Providing input into the standardisation and development of the Automation and Controls team
- Developing and delivering controls and automation training packages
- Actively participating in client safety hazard analysis
- Providing after sales technical customer support, troubleshooting and remediation
- Working with mechanical & electrical teams to ensure strong cross functional integration across all three elements
- SENIOR: Mentoring and guiding junior Controls Engineers within the team
- SENIOR: Documenting and training the team for standards compliance and best practices
- SENIOR: Accountability for the delivery (time and quality) of the team
- SENIOR: Supporting recruitment
We will consider all engineers at all levels.
Your Skills
- Hold a degree in Mechatronics with a minimum 5 years’ experience (except for Juniors) in Control Systems – salary will be commensurate with experience
- Have advanced knowledge of PLC configuration, programming, and commissioning – both Siemens S7 TIA (Preferred) & Rockwell
- Have technical proficiency in safety and the functional principles of safety
